“Jazz and Conversations” and “Out Of Africa” are the creations of Peter Fisher (aka The BassMan), a structural engineer, and aspiring Jazz musician for over 40 years. The idea of doing a radio show came after sitting in on a most enjoyable chance encounter with Ken Addy, on his radio show, Jazz on JoyFM, (Joy FM being a radio station in Accra) in the summer of 2016. On his return to Lagos, he was inspired to finally take advantage of an invitation from his lifelong friend, Chris Ubosi, CEO of Megalectrics (owners of ClassicFM, NaijaFM, Beat99FM, and LagosTalks). 

“Jazz and Conversations” debuted on LagosTalks 91.3FM on October 2nd 2016. The rest (as they say) is history. Another chance invitation to an album launch in Feb 2017, was the spark that began the change of Jazz and Conversations, from just a Jazz radio show, to one with a mission. That mission being to become a voice for Nigerian Jazz, to raise the profile of the Nigerian Jazz musician and help create an enabling environment in which “Naija Jazz” would grow, and thrive. By the end of 2017, the mission had evolved to promote “original jazz” produced by African musicians. This mission is a continuous work in progress, gradually making inroads all over the spectrum of Jazz in Africa, and going from strength to strength. “Out Of Africa” debuted on Just Music Radio (www.justmusicradio.mk), a station based in North Macedonia, on July 2nd 2020.
